In an advertising career spanning four decades, Gordon Muller has held senior positions at a number of major international advertising agencies including McCann-Erickson, Bates & Ogilvy. He has served on the board of Saatchi & Saatchi and The MediaShop and most recently as Managing Director of OMD South Africa.
Gordon’s media consultancy, GSM Quadrant, offers a depth of communication services, ranging from workshop facilitation and customized training programme development to strategic consulting and media auditing.
Gordon is a past Chairman of the Advertising Media Forum and the Advertising Media Association of South Africa (AMASA).
Gordon has represented the media industry on a number of boards including the Levy Collection Agency (LCA) (which body supervises the finances of the South Africa Advertising Research Foundation (SAARF)), the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) and has also served as on the Executive of the Marketing Excellence Council and the MAC Charter Council (Media and Advertising Transformation Charter).
His book … Media Planning – Art or Science … has, for the past 2 decades, been the prescribed text for a broad cross section of tertiary institutions in South Africa and Africa, including IMM (Institute of Marketing Management) and AAA School of Advertising. His book was awarded the Media Director Circle’s Media Innovator of Year award for 1996.
Financial Mail AdFocus recently awarded Gordon the Lifetime Achiever Award 2011.
Gordon is a keen sportsman, having represented KwaZulu Natal at u21 level at both rugby and tennis, and has run over 70 marathons and ultra-marathons including four Comrades Marathons.
