Frequently asked questions

We have gathered a comprehensive list from our webinar sessions and answered them below. If there is a question you need to be answered, please reach out to your DStv Media Sales representative and they will gladly assist.

So essentially both products are very different, DSTV Now is the ‘live’ simulcast feed of our Satellite TV channels, whereas Catch-up is basically highlights of sport content. We can pull a full run, but the ‘live’ would perform better.

So Sport is available on various platforms DSTV Now(Pre-rolls) , DSTV Catch-up(Set Top box), Our YouTube channel and Twitter handle. All of these can be geotargeted by country in SSA.

Just to confirm that Showmax and Showmax Pro is available in Zimbabwe. Since the Football content will be a simulcast feed from SuperSport, all media assets seen on TV will also be aired on the Showmax Pro feed. This will change sometime in 2021, as we get our Ad severing tech in place. Then the space will be sold separately.

On the South Africa feed, SuperSport PSL will carry all the games and content from the local league. However Rest of Africa will not have a dedicated channel for PSL content.

There will be 3 split feeds for Nigeria and Rest of Africa, around football. So SuperSport Premier League, La Liga and Football plus

We would need to get the Insights team to pull the data for us. Can you share Target markets you would like these run against?

The only extreme sport that is currently on , is from Red Bull TV, Cliff diving, Air racing. ESPN might have more content of this nature, but one will have to wait and see as the schedules start to come in.

First of all , let me apologies that the games don’t record in its entirety. So sport is very unpredictable at the “best of times” , scheduled times change at a moment’s notice. Our EPG (electronic program guide, has content typed in 3-4 weeks in advance based on what is supplied by the channels, when changes take place, we don’t have sufficient time to change the EPG. My solution for now would be to record the program before and after each game listed on the EPG. I now it’s not ideal, but at least that covers the entire game….you would just need to fast forward to the start, of match 😊

So Showmax Pro will be available as a standalone offering. However if you would like more than just football, you would still need to keep your DSTV feed to provide all the other genre of sport.

Not at present, so currently you will still have spill over into Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Namibia, Malawi, Mozambique if you buy exposure on the GOTV channels

I presume your question relates to the Subscription package, the answer is no. The bulk of channels will remain as is for package , with some additional sport channels being made available to lower bouquets. The aim is to give viewers more!

We just finalizing the document with the new sport channel changes in. Will send it to you in the next 2 weeks.

UEFA Champions Leagues games will not feature on Showpro. This content is premium, so you will only be able to access via a DSTV subscription.

DSTV has carried the GINX eSport channel (127) for a few years, the audience numbers are still very niche.

We have a dollar based account , into which payments, can be done
